The Odyssey necklace - a rotating amulet pendant handcrafted today in NYC with 18kt Fairmined Ecological gold.
The design is crafted exactly as the original, which was made over 3,000 years ago. This amulet has an incredibly unique rotating seal that shows four engravings: A scorpion, lion, crocodile and the name of the Pharaoh to whom originally belonged, “Horemheb”. It was most likely used as a way for the Pharaoh to stamp official documents, sealing them with all the powerful symbolic and amuletic properties shown on each side of the seal.
The lion and crocodile are images of dangerous creatures mastered by the Pharaoh, who was considered the guarantor of order. These symbols (including the scorpion) were also believed to have apotropaic powers, which turned away harm or evil influences. So, when the seal was stamped on an official document it was then surmised to be protected from disobedience of royal orders.
